At the age of just 28, he made his place in the elite list of veterans like Kapil Dev and Siraj Bhatule by hat -trick. Jammu and Kashmir fast bowler Aukib Nabi created history while playing for North Zone on the second day of Friday match in the quarter-finals of the Duleep Trophy 2025. He shocked everyone by hat -trick against the East Zone at the BCCI Center of Excellence ground in Bengaluru.
In the 53rd over, Aukib Nabi first caught Surj Jaiswal at the hands of the wicketkeeper, then lbw Manishi on the next ball and made Mukhtar Hussain clean on a hat -trick ball. With this, he became only the third bowler to take a hat -trick in the Dalip Trophy history.
Earlier, this feat had done Kapil Dev (1978/79, North Zone Vs West Zone) and Bhatule (2000/01, West Zone Vs East Zone). Now Aqib Nabi has joined this rare list.
Not only a hat-trick, the prophet also sent Virat Singh (69) and Mohammed Shami (1) to the pavilion with his brilliant bowling and completed the magnificent five-wicket hall. At the same time, with the bat, he also contributed significantly by hitting 44 runs off just 33 balls in the first innings of North Zone.
