Cricketer who played two World Cup robbery, police arrested, now getting bail

A surprising news is coming out from the cricket world. In fact, the two World Cup player was arrested by the police on charges of robbery. The player who is arrested is none other than the Papua New Guinea cricket team wicketkeeper-batsman Kipling Doriga, who is currently in a big trouble.

He has been severely accused of robbery after an incident in Jersey’s capital St. Heliers on Monday (25 August). Doriga, who was currently representing Papua New Guinea in the second phase of the ongoing CWC Challenge League, was detained by the local police. He was produced in the Magistrate Court on Wednesday morning. It is believed that he accepted the allegations during the hearing.

Magistrate Rebecca Morley-Kirk, considering the case very serious, transferred it to the Royal Court. The 29 -year -old Doriga has so far played 97 matches for Papua New Guinea. He is considered one of the important players of the team and was also part of the country in T20 World Cup 2021 and 2024. In such a situation, this development has shocked the cricket that is flourishing in his country.

The court also turned down his bail plea and ordered that he would be detained on the island by the next hearing. Now Doriga is to appear in the Royal Court on 28 November. Doriga is jointly at number one in a T20 International with MS Dhoni of India and Kenya wicketkeeper Irfan Karim.
