Salman Khan has received multiple death threats from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang
New Delhi: Mumbai Crime Branch has apprehended a man suspected of issuing threats and demanding Rs 5 crore extortion from actor Salman Khan. The arrest came after an investigation into a series of threatening WhatsApp messages sent to the Mumbai Traffic Control Room on November 7, allegedly using a number registered to Sohail Pasha, who identified himself as the writer of the song “Main Sikandar Hoon”.
According to officials, the messages contained threats against Khan’s life should the ransom not be paid. Following the report from the traffic control department, the Worli Police registered a case under sections 308 (4) and 351 (3) of the Indian Penal Code.
Accused had demanded Rs 5 crore
“If Salman Khan wants to stay alive, he should go to our (Bishnoi community) temple and apologise or pay Rs 5 crore. If he does not do so, we will kill him; our gang is still active,” the message read.
The investigation led authorities to a phone number linked to Banktesh Narayan, a resident of Karnataka. However, upon questioning, Narayan explained that he did not own a smartphone, and his basic mobile device had no internet or WhatsApp access. He recalled an encounter on November 3, where an unidentified person borrowed his phone at a local market, supposedly to make a quick call. Narayan allowed the person to use his device, during which an OTP for WhatsApp installation was sent to his number, later used to set up the app on another device.

Further investigations pointed to Sohail Pasha, also known as Sohail Paksha, as the prime suspect. Police believe Pasha, who claims authorship of “Main Sikandar Hoon”, used Narayan’s number to send the threats. Pasha was located, detained, and has since been handed over to the Worli Police for continued inquiries.
Salman Khan has received multiple death threats from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, allegedly tied to his involvement in the blackbuck hunting case in Rajasthan during the filming of one of his films. In April, suspected gang members reportedly fired shots outside the actor’s residence in Bandra. As a result of this ongoing series of threats, security around Khan has been significantly increased.
