It seems like Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao have arrived in New York to kick off the Laapataa Ladies campaign for the 2025 Oscars. Meanwhile, a new poster of the comedy-drama was unveiled online, rebranding it as Lost Ladies.

New Delhi: Some movies carve a special place in the hearts of cinema lovers with their heartwarming storylines and compelling performances by the lead cast, despite their modest budgets. One such film is Laapataa Ladies. But did you know that the title of the Kiran Rao directorial has now been changed, eight months after its theatrical release? Well, let us enlighten you as to why.

The makers of the flick have now decided to tweak its title as the film heads to the international stage. It is to be noted that the comedy-drama was selected as India’s official entry for Best International Feature Film at the 97th Academy Awards earlier in 2024.

To kick off the Oscars 2025 campaign, a new poster of Laapataa Ladies was unveiled online on Tuesday (November 12, 2024), rebranding it as Lost Ladies to appeal to audiences worldwide. The quirky poster also features the movie’s characters in their fun-filled avatars. Have a look:

On the sidelines, the 51-year-old filmmaker and her former husband Aamir Khan, who is also a co-producer of the movie, were spotted in New York. The duo visited the Indian restaurant The Bungalow, owned by celebrity chef Vikas Khanna.

Laapataa Ladies cast

The award-winning film stars Nitanshi Goel, Pratibha Ranta, Sparsh Shrivastava, Chhaya Kadam and Ravi Kishan in pivotal roles. It was released in theaters on March 1, 2024. You’ll be amazed to know that Laapataa Ladies won the Best Film (Critics’ Choice) category at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne. The storyline of the flick revolves around two newly-wed brides who get exchanged during a train ride.
