Noida: A 60-year-old man was arrested on Thursday for allegedly molesting a seven-year-old girl in Gejha village, Noida, after a video of the incident surfaced online.
The accused, identified as Raees Khan, was taken into custody following the viral footage, which sparked public outrage.
Incident details
The alleged molestation took place on Tuesday in Gejha village, under Phase-2 police jurisdiction. A video showing the inappropriate act was shared on social media on Wednesday.Inspector Vindhyachal Tiwari, the station incharge, said that Raees Khan, a resident of the village, was identified as the suspect, as reported by PTI.
He was arrested and presented in court shortly after the video emerged. A case has been registered under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (Indian Penal Code) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act.
Similar incident
In another similar incident reported in December 2023, a 35-year-old man allegedly molested his minor daughter at their house in Madhya Pradesh. The incident took place in Dewas district of Madhya Pradesh. The man committed the heinous crime when they were alone at their house at night.
According to police, the victim girl narrated the ordeal to her mother when she returned home. Following this, the woman’s relatives filed a complaint against the accused in the police station.
