Air India Express has expanded its flights from West Bengal by 37 per cent to 230 daily flights for the upcoming winter season. Check dates and new routes

Kolkata: Air India Express on Friday said it will offer 230 daily flights from Kolkata and Bagdogra route. This is a 37 per cent upgrade from the 168 flights offered during the winter season last year. The budget airline of Tata Group will also offer new direct from Kolkata to Sri Vijaya Puram (Port Blair) and Indore. Air India Express will also offer direct connectivity from Bagdogra to Chennai, it said in an official statement.
The Kolkata-Port Blair flight is expected to boost tourism as the holiday season kicks in from December, said Dr Ankur Garg, Chief Commercial Officer at Air India Express.
Air India Express aircraft to feature new designs
The airline will deploy 2 new aircraft in its signature livery featuring Indian designs and motifs such as the “Jamdani” and “Kantha”, glorifying Wet Bengal’s rich cultural heritage. While Jamdani print is synonymous with handloom, with its unique floral and geometric motifs, Kantha is an age-old craft which promotes sustainability by repurposing old clothes into quilts and blankets.
Air India Express winter season plans
Tata Group’s budget carrier arm Air India Express, which recently completed the merger of AIX Connect (formerly Air Asia India) with itself, has expanded its offerings by 30 per cent this winter season. The airline’s fleet is 90-jet strong with the inclusion of new aircraft in its ever expanding fleet, it said. Air India Express plans to operate over 400 flights this season, up from 325 flights during the same period a year ago.

Air India Express will also start flight coverage to 2 new destinations, namely, Jammu and Sri Vijaya Puram (Port Blair), from December 1, 2024, it said in an official statement.
