Bihar SIR: SC refuses to increase the time limit to enter the opposition, the opposition’s shock
The Supreme Court’s major decision on the issue related to SIR.
In Bihar, there is a continuous controversy over the revision of the voter list i.e. SIR. Opposition parties are constantly opposing this. Meanwhile, the Supreme Court has given a big verdict in a case related to SIR. The Supreme Court has not extended the last date (1 September) set by the Election Commission to register objections and claims in the SIR campaign.
What did the Supreme Court say?
The Supreme Court, while denying the increase in the deadline, has asked political parties to activate their representatives. The Election Commission has said that applications can be filed even after 30 September. Whatever names will be included, they will be included in the voter list. If the date is extended, it will begin an endless process.
Election Commission argued
The Supreme Court in the order registered the argument of the Commission that it has been stated by the Election Commission that claims and objections can be submitted even after the last date of September 1 and they will be considered after the final appearance of the names. The process of consideration on claims will continue till the last date of nomination. The work of filing claims and objections should be continued. Meanwhile, political parties can present their feedback on the note presented.
Election Commission gave important information
During the hearing of the Bihar SIR case, the Election Commission has informed the Supreme Court that out of the 2.74 crore voters included in the draft voter list in Bihar, 99.5 percent has so far filed eligibility documents. The Election Commission has told the Supreme Court that the voters whose documents are incomplete, continue to issue notice within 7 days. The Election Commission further stated that any detail in the September 1 time frame of claiming claims and objections would obstruct the SIR process and finalizing the voter list.
