Oscar-winning singer and composer AR Rahman recently announced his separation from wife Saira Banu after 29 years of marriage. The news shocked fans and created curiosity about his financial status.

Recognized as one of the most prominent figures in the global music industry, AR Rahman has composed songs and original scores for over 145 films in various languages, including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and English. Reports in Mint, Hindustan Times and Times of India suggest that he charges around Rs 3 crore per song. According to a report in Lifestyle Asia, his fees for live performances are between Rs 1 to 2 crores. Apart from his music projects, Rahman also earns a good amount from Brand N.

Apart from his Chennai home, the Jai Ho singer also owns a luxurious property in Los Angeles, which facilitates his frequent trips to the United States. The property is equipped with a modern music studio, allowing them to work and record from the comfort of home without the need to rely on an external studio.

The exceptionally talented musician AR Rahman is also the owner of AM Music Studios, which operates in Mumbai, London and Los Angeles.

Rehman also owns a wide range of luxury cars, including a Volvo SUV worth Rs 93.87 lakh, a Jaguar worth Rs 1.08 crore, a Mercedes worth Rs 2.86 crore.

At the age of 11, AR Rahman began his musical journey under the guidance of Master Dhanraj and later joined the orchestra of Malayalam musician MK Arjunan. He collaborated with renowned composers such as Ilaiyaraaja and Ramesh Naidu. Rahman’s breakthrough came in 1992 with Mani Ratnam’s Tamil film Roja, which propelled him to become one of India’s most versatile, talented and richest composers.

In an earlier interview with Times of India, he revealed that his first salary was Rs 50 which he earned as a record player operator.

Rahman is known for giving some of the most iconic and hit songs which include Jai Ho, Maa Tujhe Salaam, Mukkala Mukbala, Vande Mataram, Dil Se Re, Luka Chuppi, Raanjhanaa to name a few.
