Superstar Father left Dilip-Raj Kapoor behind in stardom, son turns out to be a mahaflop
Sunil Anand.
It is not a matter of the golden era of Bollywood and Dev Anand’s name does not come, this cannot happen. His style, his smile, his style, everything had a different glow. Dev Anand was not only an excellent actor, but also a talented writer, director and producer. He made films that still make the audience think, keeping ahead of his time. From social issues to romance, he conducted experiments on every subject and gave memorable films one after the other. Dev Anand’s popularity was so much that his name was considered a guarantee of the success of the film. After achieving this such identity and success, when he decided to launch his son in films, it was obvious that the expectations of the audience were also touching the sky.
Dev Anand launched his son in a unique way
While Sunil Dutt launched his son Sanjay Dutt from ‘Rocky’ and Dharmendra launched Sunny Deol with ‘desperate’, Dev Anand launched his son Sunil Anand in 1984 with his directed film ‘Anand Aur Anand’ in films. The film featured Dev Anand himself in the lead role, while Sunil was introduced in the supporting role. The film also featured big actresses like Rakhi and Smita Patil. However, the film ‘Anand and Anand’ flopped badly at the box office. The father-son duo could not connect with the audience and the film descended from the cinema houses without leaving any special impact.

Success was not achieved in lead roles
After the failure of the first film, Sunil Anand worked as the lead actor in the next film ‘Car Thef’. He was accompanied by Vijayata Pandit in this film. But the film also fell on the ticket window. Neither the film was appreciated nor Sunil’s performance. After two consecutive flops, his career became more difficult. Dev Anand took help of his brother Vijay Anand to handle his son’s sinking career. Sunil once again played the lead role in the film ‘Main Tere Liye’, directed by Vijay Anand and this time his heroine was Meenakshi Seshadri. Despite this, the film failed to woo the audience.
Long brake and unsuccessful return
Dev Anand did not give up. He made another film, including actors like Asha Parekh and Rajendra Kumar. The motive was just one, establishing Sunil Anand as a successful actor. But the result remained the same again- failure. Tired of consistently failures, Sunil Anand took a long break from films. He tried to cut himself and tried to tested his skills afresh. Many years later in 2001, he made a comeback with a film Master based on martial arts. In this film, he not only acted, but also took the responsibility of directing himself. But the audience did not accept him this time either. The film flopped and Sunil Anand once again disappointed.
Dev Anand’s name is big, but son did not run
Sunil Anand finally admitted that perhaps success in the film world was not written in his luck. It was not easy to become a star like Dev Anand. It is not a matter of everyone to reach the height they got there. Sunil Anand got many opportunities in the industry, joined both father and uncle, but his career could never fly. Today, even after decades, people remember Dev Anand, but Sunil Anand has become only a forgotten attempt.
