Washington: Former US National Security Advisor i.e. NSA Jake Sulivan has made a big charge against President Donald Trump. Sulivan has said that Trump has turned down decades -old relations with India to promote business interests with Pakistan. The statement that NSA, who was NSA during the Biden administration, made in an interview given to YouTube channel Medastouch. Let me tell you that in the last few days, Trump has taken many decisions about India, after which his criticism has started in his own country.

India-American relationships big loss

Sulivan said that the US has tried to strengthen its relations with India, the world’s largest democracy for several decades. He said, “We should work together in technology, talent, economy and many other sectors with India, especially to fight strategic threat from China.” But Sulivan says that Trump ‘sidelined’ relations with India due to his family business deals with Pakistan. He described it as a ‘big strategic loss’ for the US.

Will be forced to think in another country

Sulivan warned that the move would be forced to think of other countries like Germany, Japan and Canada that ‘tomorrow may be our turn’. He said, ‘If our friends and other countries of the world begin to believe that America cannot be trusted, then it will not be in the interest of American people. Our promise should be our strength. What is happening with India will not only affect our relationships, but it will also affect relations with all our partners worldwide.

Trump’s growing relationship with Pakistan

Sulivan’s statement came at a time when the relationship between Trump and Pakistan is getting deep deeper. In April 2024, the Cryptocurrency Company World Liberty Financial (WLF), associated with the Trump family, made several agreements with the Pakistan Crypto Council (PCC). The purpose of these agreements was to promote investment and innovation in the crypto industry in Pakistan. Trump and his family hold a 60 per cent stake in the WLF, and Trump is the ‘Chief Crypto Advocate’ of the company. A delegation from the US went to Pakistan for the agreement, including Trump’s special ally and Jackie Witchoff, son of Steve Witchoff, special ally and special ambassador for the middle East.

Trump and Asim Munir meet

In June 2024, Pakistan’s Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir and Trump met at the White House. In this meeting, both of them spoke on issues like trade, economic growth and cryptocurrency. In July 2024, Trump announced a trade deal with Pakistan and threatened to put 25% tariff on India’s goods. Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social, “We have made a deal with Pakistan, under which the US and Pakistan together will develop their huge oil reserves.” Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif also thanked Trump for this ‘historic’ deal.

India-Pakistan tension and Trump claim

All this happened when tension between India and Pakistan was at its peak. India retaliated after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir on 22 April 2025. Trump claimed that he helped to resolve the conflict between India and Pakistan, but Sulivan called it a ‘under-reported’ story. Sulivan said that the technology with India and the partnership in the economy is in the US interest, but Trump’s decisions have damaged it. Explain that the allegation of weakening relations with an important partner like India and preference with Pakistan can create new problems for the Trump administration.
