Sridevi: There were many such films in Hindi cinema which settled in the hearts of the audience even after watching them once. One of these was Sridevi and Anil Kapoor’s film Mr. India, released in 1987. This was a very ahead of its time and iconic film. This film is praised even today because of its interesting story, brilliant direction and tremendous acting of the stars. But do you know that along with the stars of the film, a cockroach also did such an act due to which it also came into the headlines.
Cockroach acted with Sridevi
Shekhar Kapur, director of Sridevi and Anil Kapoor’s film Mr. India, mentioned this scene during the interview. In a conversation with DAILY POST, he recalled the shooting days of the film. Referring to the cockroach in the film, he had told that there was a scene in the film in which the cockroach chases Sridevi. For this scene, everyone was struggling as to how to make the cockroach act like running after Sridevi.
Cockroaches were given alcohol for the scene with Sridevi
The director told that everyone was engaged in this effort. Then an idea came to the mind of the film’s cinematographer Baba Azmi. Baba told Shekhar to make the cockroach drink alcohol, which will make him drunk. He liked this idea and then what? Both of them dropped some rum in front of the cockroach and after some time the cockroach actually drank a few drops of it. After a while the cockroach started getting really intoxicated. Then he started acting like running behind Sridevi and it became easy for the makers to do that scene. He said that perhaps the cockroach had liked the Old Monk.
A sequel will be made to Sridevi’s film
Let us tell you that apart from Anil Kapoor and Sridevi, veteran actors like Satish Kaushik, Amrish Puri and Annu Kapoor were seen in the film Mr. India. The film was produced by Boney Kapoor. Recently the makers had revealed that its sequel is currently in the pre-mature stage. During an interview, Boney Kapoor said, “It will definitely come back. When it has to happen, it will happen. Boney Kapoor told that a foreign studio/western studio had contacted me. I can’t talk much but it will happen, it will definitely happen in the future.”
