University Vice Chancellor Charlie Jeffrey discussed the initiative with Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the current ‘Waves’ summit in Mumbai and signed a formal MoU with the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, signing the way to the new campus.

He said that after getting final regulatory approval from the University Grants Commission (UGC), York University will introduce graduation and postgraduate courses in computer science, business, economics and creative industries with artificial intelligence and cyber security.

Jeffrey said, “York’s global reputation is based on its outstanding achievements in teaching and research and is one of the four universities in Britain (with Oxford, Cambridge and Imperial College London) that is in the top 10 in the UK for the quality of its research and who has the gold ranking for the quality of his teaching.

Under the scheme, York University will initially open its campus in a major commercial district of Mumbai and develop it as a state -of -the -art campus in the coming years. All programs will be introduced to the educational standards of York, in which the students will graduate with the University of York.

With this, this university will be able to bring its world -class educational models directly into one of the world’s fastest growing education markets. The UGC announced the establishment and operation of complexes in India in 2023 under the Foreign Higher Education Institute Regulation.

The University of Southampton, Britain, is in the process of setting up its campus in India this year, the campus of two Australian universities – Decin and Walongong – is already in Gujarat International Finance Tech -City (Gift City). ‘Queen’s University Belfast’ and ‘Coventry University’ have also received approval to open campus in Gift City.
