Punishment for rape in India
According to Section 64 in India, if found guilty in the rape case, the person can be sentenced to both prison and fine up to life imprisonment for 10 years. At the same time, there is a provision of strict punishment in the case of rape from a minor. In such cases, a provision of punishment from 20 years of jail to life imprisonment has been made on rape with a child under 16 years of age. Death punishment can also be given in this case after the death of a minor.

Poxo Act came to India in the year 2012
In 2012, the POCSO Act was brought in India to protect minor girls from sexual violence. Its full name of the Act is the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act/Children’s Sexual Offenses Protection Act. Under this law, a boy/girl under the age of 18 is considered a minor. Provision has also been made for strict punishment against those who do wrong acts from these children. Under the law, the guilty can be sentenced to life imprisonment and penalty from 20 years of jail to life imprisonment. In severe cases, the convict can be punished to death.
