A massive fire broke out in a flat in Mumbai, 3 people including an elderly couple burnt alive.

Mumbai. A massive fire broke out in a flat in Lokhandwala Complex in Andheri West. Three people including an elderly couple died in this incident. According to BMC disaster control, the fire was reported at around 8 in the morning. Soon after this, fire brigade personnel and other rescue teams reached the spot.

There was a fire in the 10th floor flat of Riya Palace, a 14-storey building located at CR No. 4 in Lokhandwala. A lot of smoke was coming out from there. Although the fire was limited to the flat only, many panicked people from the same floor and upper floors came out of their houses and reached the garden of the society. BMC said that fire brigade personnel brought the fire under control in about an hour. After being rescued from the flat, three people in critical condition were taken to BMC’s Cooper Hospital in Juhu, where doctors declared them dead. The deceased have been identified as Chandraprakash Soni (74), Chandrakanta Soni (74) and Pelubeta (42), who lived in the flat.

An officer present at the spot said that the bodies of the three have been sent for post-mortem. The actual cause of the fire is being investigated. It is estimated that the fire may have started due to short circuit. A resident said that all the people living in the flat were burnt to death. The elderly couple and the third person did not get time to escape from the fire and smoke. Building Secretary Kishan Arora said that this incident happened around 7 o’clock. My son, who was out for his morning walk, saw smoke coming out of the flat. My son informed me about this. After this the fire brigade was immediately informed about the fire. The fire brigade team arrived within 15 minutes, but even before that we tried to open and break the door of the flat.
Somehow the door was broken, but nothing was visible in the smoke inside the flat. The fire brigade team started its operation. The team took out three people from inside the house. The elderly couple has two children, one lives in Singapore and one lives in America. The elderly couple had a servant in their house. His servant’s name was Ravi. The elderly couple was living here for about 22 years.
