A quarrel with a record of the biggest fine of IPL in which big names like Sachin Tendulkar and Shane Warne jumped
This is one of the most embarrassing quarrels of the IPL that was not only discussed in the entire cricket world, a party also went to the court, $ 50000 (today equal to Rs 42.69 lakh and after fines on Harbhajan, the largest in IPL) cash fined and many plots like a film story. For the role, just understand that the basis of this quarrel is almost the same as Kolkata Knight Riders are seen on the mood of the Eden Gardens pitch these days. Let’s go straight to this story:
Which match was: Shane Warne’s Rajasthan Royals’ Sawai Man Singh Stadium, Jaipur with Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore on 11 May 2011
Rajasthan Royals 146/6 in 20 overs (Rahul Dravid 37)
Royal Challengers Bangalore 151/1 in 17 overs (Chris Gayle 70*, Kohli 39*)
Royal Challengers Bangalore victorious by 9 wickets
Player of the Match Srinath Arvind 3-34
What happened: Even before the defeat in this match, the disappointment of the Rajasthan Royals team started coming out on the mood of the Home Ground Jaipur pitch. As soon as the match was over, there was a fight on it. Captain Shane Warne quarreled with Sanjay Dixit, secretary of Rajasthan Cricket Association, abused him, badly, and everyone saw this spectacle. RCA’s Venue Director Narendra Joshi wrote a letter to IPL CEO Sundar Raman and alleged that Warne openly called Dixit ‘false and egoistic’ and insulted him, so take action against Warne.
Actually the fire was burning before the match. The previous match of Rajasthan Royals (on 9 May) was in Jaipur and lost it by 63 runs from Chennai Super Kings. The pitch Warne’s team did not like and so after that defeat, Warne requested that the next match of RCB be fed on another pitch. It is alleged that Dixit did not accept the request and for the RCB match, the losing pitch from Chennai did not change. Both these matches were flat, while Rajasthan had slow and low in Jaipur.
Dixit kept clarifying that he has nothing to do with choosing the pitch and this is the work of the pitch committee and curator. So he was very angry with Warne and started demanding action against him. When the matter broke, the BCCI clarified that ‘any team playing has no right to choose the pitch for the match and the curator prepares wickets with the advice of the Chief of the Pitch Committee.’ In this way, there was a clear indication that Warne fought on the wrong issue.
The first discussion on Jaipur’s pitch in that season was held in Mumbai Indians matches (29 April) (only 94-8 more in MI 20 overs) and Sachin Tendulkar also did not describe the pitch as correct. Then both Warne and Dixit spoke against Tendulkar’s comment in unison. Due to this quarrel, the BCCI immediately sent his pitch committee chief Venkat Sundaram to Jaipur and he was present in all the matches ahead. It was only after his arrival that the pitch changed and the Rajasthan team lost. The same pitch was used in the RCB match (this was not only Rajasthan’s last home match in that season, Warne also had the last match in Jaipur and he wanted to make it memorable with victory) and again the Rajasthan team lost. Inside, he was also angry at the fact that Tendulkar criticized the pitch (also made the official complaint) BCCI gave him a high price, Tendulkar made an excuse for the bowling of Rajasthan instead of the bowling of Rajasthan and sowed the seed of quarrel.
In this way, Warne got caught in trouble due to RCA’s action complaint on Warne. Moreover, RCA made a complaint in the BCCI and IPL as well as a complaint in the local court. Just after the presentation at Sawai Man Singh Stadium, this program was done in front of everyone, abusing and saying bad. It is said that if the standing film star Shilpa Shetty (she was a share holder in Rajasthan Royals), Warne was very angry. Later, however, Warne apologized for what happened, but the matter deteriorated.
What happened after this: In the record, it is also that
* On the demand of the desired pitch, the text message to Dixit was sent by Warne repeatedly, Dixit forwarded the BCCI.
* After the defeat, Warne also alleged that Dixit is in danger of Rajasthan Royals playing in playoffs due to Dixit.
Warne (after his franchise’s investigation) apologized and Rajasthan Royals also apologized but the Rajasthan Cricket Association refused to accept both of them. On this, the IPL formed a committee of three members (IPL commissioners Viva Amin, Ravi Shastri and IMG official John) to investigate the case.
On the other hand, a new sub plot was made that Dean Jones (commentator) played in the Australia team with Warne, supported Warne on a television channel and denied the association. There was a big spectacle on his comment with his ‘Warne’s feet lick’. On this, the action front on Jones also opened and the association also took him to court. This story is a different story.
Who got punishment: The BCCI fined Shane Warne at a fine of US $ 50000, warning but rescued the ban. It is believed that Warne broke the IPL code of conduct. The committee kept in mind that Warne is not only one of the cricket great and has made a big contribution in promoting the IPL, has also apologized to Dixit. Due to lack of ban, Warne cleared the way for playing his last match in IPL (against Mumbai Indians at Wankhede Stadium). The match was won by Rajasthan Royals by 10 wickets. This was the last professional match of Shane Warne’s cricket career.
In this anecdote, the second sub plot was opened by former IPL commissioner Lalit Modi and in mentioning a fine of $ 50000 on Warne, BCCI was called ‘greedy of money’. In his view, this fine was absolutely wrong. A new issue was raised that even if Dixit made fun of Tendulkar in the pitch case, why not take action on him? According to him, there was a lot of apology for the Great like Warne and there was no need for cash fine.
