Aamir Khan was not the first choice for Fana, Aditya Chopra wanted to make them ‘terrorists’

The year 2006 was very special for Aamir Khan. Earlier this year, one of his films ‘Rang De Basanti’ was released in theaters, which emerged as a revolution among the youth. He then appeared in a romantic thriller with whom he again impressed the audience. We are talking about ‘Fana’ directed by Kunal Kohli, in which Kajol was seen in the lead role with Aamir Khan. In this film, Aamir played a terrorist named Rehan and Kajol of a blind girl named Juni. Aamir Khan looted a lot of applause with this romantic thriller. It received tremendous response from the audience, critics and was also commercially successful. But, after so many years, it has now been revealed that the film’s producer Aditya Chopra wanted to cast Hrithik Roshan in this film, not Aamir Khan.

Aamir was not Hrithik was the first choice for Fana

Fana director Kunal Kohli recently told some interesting things about Fana during a conversation at Friday Talkies Podcast. During this time, he told that initially Aditya Chopra wanted to cast Hrithik not to Aamir Khan but in this blockbuster. He said- ‘Fana’s story etc. (Aditya Chopra) was near. I said- if we go to Aamir, then he said- Aamir will not, he does not know what he is in the mood right now.

Hrithik rejected the film

Kunal Kohli further revealed that he approached Hrithik Roshan for Fana, but he rejected the movie. Kunal says- ‘We went to Hrithik. He said- ‘After Mission Kashmir, they look very similar to the same extent.’ I don’t think I should do this. After this meeting I asked Adi- Why are we not approaching Aamir? And after this we did the story of Aamir and he liked it. However, he demanded Hindi dialogues.

Hindi dialogue prepared in a week

Kunal Kohli remembered how he prepared Hindi dialogues in a week due to Aamir Khan, but went to Aamir after a month, so that he would not have any doubt. During the second meeting, Aamir conveyed whether the film should be directed to Aditya Chopra, as he suspected whether Kunal would be correct elections to direct the film.

Aamir wanted Aditya Chopra to direct the film

Kunal recalled the conversation between himself and Aamir for five hours and said- ‘I said to Aamir- Aamir, I will say something, maybe for this I can regret my whole life, but if you suspect me and I will have to think after every shot whether Aamir is happy or not, you do not do this film.’ However, Aamir Khan finally agreed to direct the film by Kunal Kohli and then created history when the film was ready and released.
