Abhishek Bachchan gets Best Actor Award, Aamir Khan also honored

The 16th edition of the Melbourne Indian Film Festival (IFFM) 2025 was converted into a festival adorned with stars of Indian cinema, where some of the best talents of the industry were honored on the global stage. The main attraction of this evening was Neeraj Ghaywan’s ‘Homebound’, who won both the best film and the best director by winning the award. Ishaan Khattar, Vishal Jethwa and Janhvi Kapoor starrer ‘Homebound’ is one of the most talked about films of this year, and its two wins have established it as an excellent film of 2025. Aamir Khan was awarded the prestigious ‘Excellence in Cinema’ award of this festival, which has recognized his permanent heritage and influence for decades. In his award -taking speech, he credited the visit to his colleagues and audience. Aamir Khan said on the occasion, “Filmmaking is a collaborative art, and this award is not possible without my writers, directors, co-stars and audiences who have given me an opportunity to tell stories and to be a part of many stories that I have been part of.”
Abhishek Bachchan gets respect
In the acting categories, Abhishek Bachchan won the Best Actor (Men) Award for his role in ‘I Want to Talk’, while Geeta Kailasam won the Best Actress (Women) Award for ‘Angammal’. Gugun Kigpene also received special mention for his strong acting in ‘Bong’. Considering his journey with the festival, Abhishek Bachchan described his victory as an emotional achievement, ‘The cycle of life has been completed for me. I came here in 2022, where I was awarded the Excellence Award in Cinema. Now on the same platform, receiving the best actor award for a film, which is very special for me, is overwhelmed. ‘
