The Directorate General of Civil Aviation i.e. DGCA has issued a show cause notice to the country’s leading airline IndiGo about alleged disturbances in simulator training of about 1,700 pilots. According to sources, the notice was sent after investigation of records and answers received from the airline last month. According to PTI news, sources say that Aviation Regulator DGCA found that the category C or Critical Airfield training was conducted on simulators that did not meet the required standards. This training included both the Captain (Pilot-in-Command) and the First Officer.

These pilots were not qualified according to some special airport

According to the news, the notice also states that the simulators that were trained were not suitable for airports such as sensitive and special training needs like Calicut, Leh and Kathmandu. For example, Calicut Airport is an airfield with a table top runway, where the operation of flights requires additional precautions and special training.

What did the airline company say?

Domestic airlines company IndiGo said in a statement that we confirm that DGCA has received a show cause notice related to simulator training of some of our pilots. We are currently reviewing it and will give our reply to the regulator within the stipulated time. We are committed to ensure the highest standards of safety and compliance in all our operations. The DGCA is preparing for appropriate action in this entire case, and an explanation has been sought from the airline as to how such a large number of pilots were trended without recognized simulator.
