According to the US Geological Survey, the earthquake, which occurred at 11:47 pm, was 27 km from Jalalabad city of Nangarhar province in east-north-east. The epicenter of the earthquake was at a depth of eight kilometers from the ground. Low -depth earthquakes cause more damage. Many tremors were felt even after the earthquake.

800 killed, 2500 people injured

The footage showed that the rescuers were taking out the injured from the collapsed buildings and carrying them into helicopters with the help of stretchers, while people are engaged in removing the debris with their hands. Taliban government spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said that the death toll has increased to 800 and 2,500 people have been injured.

Most causes damage to Kunar province

He said that most people have been casualties in Kunar province. Buildings in Afghanistan are usually low-height, mostly made of concrete and bricks, while houses in rural and remote areas are made of raw bricks and wood. The quality of many houses is inferior.

The entire village is over

One of the most affected areas of Kunar, a resident of Naragal district, said that almost the entire village is over. The villager said, ‘Children are buried under the rubble. The elderly are under the debris. The youth are buried under the debris. He pleaded, ‘We need help here.’

The eastern border of Kunar is from Pakistan along the Durand Rekha, which is about 175 km long. The total area of ​​Kunar is 4,339 square kilometers. The estimated population of Kunar is 508,224, most of which are Pashtuns. Also 5% are Nuristani and other minority communities.
