On the first day of the Old Trafford Test, a special turn came in England’s return when the Dawson, who returned after a long time in the England Test team, showed his impact. England captain Ben Stokes won the toss by winning the toss at Old Trafford on the first day of the fourth Test of Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, being played from 23 July. The most important of these came in the 41st over, when Liam Dawson, who returned to Test cricket after eight years, sent Yashasvi Jaiswal to the pavilion. On the second ball of his second over, Dawson got a light drift. Jaiswal came to defend the front-foot, but the ball lightly took the edge of the bat and went into the first slip of Harry Brook. Jaiswal played a brilliant innings of 58 runs from 107 balls, but could not transfer his half -century innings into a big innings.

Talking about the match, the English bowlers returned in the second session after scoring 78 runs without losing wickets till lunch and took three important wickets of India, due to which India scored 149 for 3 wickets till T-Brake. Sai Sudarshan (26*) and Rishabh Pant (3*) stood at the crease. Apart from Dawson for England, Chris Woakes and Ben Stokes took one wicket each.
