In a conversation with Just to Film, Tarun Mansukhani spoke openly about his divorce. He also explained during this time why he had taken a long break from films. Talking about his personal life, he said – ‘A lot happened. I divorced, which was not pleasant. My divorce was a very expensive experience for me. Life turned on its own. I was not in a position to make films. My mental state was not good. During that time I knew the same thing and that I am in debt.

‘I needed to solve it. I did not want to make films just for money. If I had made films for money only, it would also be seen in my work. I can’t enjoy my work on the set and what is the benefit in such work? I did a lot to come out of this debt and finally the loan came down. When everything became clear, I started working on another film.
Divorce was done in 2014
Let me tell you, Tarun Mansukhani ended his marriage to Karuna in 2014. The conflict between the two started from 2011, after which the two started separating in 2012. Both of them explained a lot by their friends and family, tried to reconcile, but even after this, both could not live together and finally both got divorced in 2014. After this divorce, he stayed away from films for a long time.
Shahrukh Khan’s advice got work
Tarun also talked about the failure of Sushant Singh Rajput starrer ‘Drive’ released in 2019. It is said that Karan Johar was also not happy with this film, after which it was released directly on Netflix instead of theaters. However, Tarun always stood with ‘drive’. Talking about the reason behind this, he said- ‘Shah Rukh Khan once told me that many films will come in your career which will not be commercially successful, but will become your favorite. Because, this is the weakest thing in your house, which you would like to keep with you and give it full support.
