Stewarts is fighting a case of more than 40 victims of families. Advocate Peter Nineen of the firm has said that Air India has asked the families legally sensitive financial information before giving compensation, which could reduce their rights. On the other hand, Air India has rejected the allegations.
Ninan said that Air India is treating the families of the victims immoral and derogatory. AI can try to save about Rs 1,050 crore by behaving in this way. He has also demanded an inquiry into the case. At the same time, he has advised his clients not to fill the form and take a legal path to get compensation.
The plane crash of Air India in Ahmedabad took place on 12 June. At that time there were 242 people in the aircraft. One passenger’s life was saved in them. In addition, 29 people lost their lives in medical hostels on which the aircraft fell. In this way, 270 people died in this accident.
Ninean alleged, ‘Neither a family was already informed, nor did he get legal advice nor a copy of these documents. Air India officials pressured some family to fill the form and went to their house and asked why the forms were not filled.
The family was told that they will not get any compensation until they fill the form. Whereas according to international law, the airline has to give immediate interim compensation after the identity and signing of the receipt, no form is required.
