Air India aircraft slipped from runway in Mumbai
AI2744 of Air India slipped from the runway at Mumbai Airport on Monday morning during plane landing. The aircraft came to Mumbai from Kochi. The runway was slippery due to heavy rains in Mumbai, causing the aircraft to go on grass 16 to 17 meters from the runway.
The accident happened at 9:27 am. The pictures showed that the nasel (lid) of the right engine of the aircraft has been damaged. Despite this incident, the aircraft was brought to the parking lot, where all passengers and crew members were landed. During this time three tires of the aircraft burst.
Air India said that no passengers or crew members have been harmed in the accident. However, the main runway of Mumbai Airport, 09/27 has been damaged. The movement of flights on the runway has been stopped. Three signage boards and four lights were also broken along the runway.
DGCA team reached Mumbai Airport for investigation
The second runway, 14/32, has been started to keep flight operations running at Mumbai Airport. A team from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has reached the airport to investigate the case.
According to Air India, the aircraft is investigated. Both pilots have been removed and the cause of the incident is under investigation.
Roads drowned in overnight rain in Mumbai
Mumbai received heavy rains from late Sunday night to Monday morning. Lower areas were flooded due to overnight rain. Roads were submerged. Due to waterlogging, the movement of vehicles in many areas of Mumbai also slowed down significantly.
