Ajit Agarkar made a big decision, these 3 players including Hardik Pandya will no longer be seen in the Test team!
Ajit Agarkar: There has been a big change in Indian cricket. BCCI Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar has decided to get three such big names out of the team, taking a tough decision on the Test team. The most shocking name in this list is of all -rounder Hardik Pandya, who was once considered the red ball of Team India. Apart from Hardik, there are two more players, who will no longer get a chance in the Test team.
Hardik’s test career stalled, Limited to limited format
Indian all -rounder Hardik Pandya is now out of the Test team’s plans. He played a total of 11 Test matches for India, scoring 532 runs and took 17 wickets. His Test High Shor was 108 runs, which came against Sri Lanka in 2017.
Hardik has long kept distance from Test cricket due to frequent injuries and keeping his priority in limited overs cricket. Selector Ajit Agarkar no longer consider him suitable for red-ball cricket.
Suryakumar did not get another chance, Chahal’s dream incomplete
Suryakumar Yadav’s Test career has been limited to just one match so far. He played the Nagpur Test against Australia in February 2023, in which he could score only 8 runs. The lack of continuous performance in red ball cricket has dropped him out of the Test team.
At the same time, leg -spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has not played a single Test match for India yet. Although he has 121 wickets in 42 first -class matches, he never got a permanent chance in the Test team. Ashwin, Jadeja, Kuldeep do not fit the Test plan.
Selector Ajit Agarkar is a clear attitude that the same players will be given a chance in Test cricket who play red ball cricket continuously. The selection committee is now giving priority to such players keeping in mind the fitness, form and format specialization.
Although no official announcement has been made by the BCCI or Ajit Agarkar yet, it is clear that Hardik, Surya and Yuzvendra Chahal do not currently seem to be part of the Test plans, given the current circumstances and the preferences of the selectors.
This decision can be considered entirely based on the preference of players’ form, fitness and format. In the coming time, if the performance and attitude of these players changes, then the doors of the Test team can open again for them.
