Akshay Kumar’s stardom in danger? Why are their films being piled up at the box office like ‘Kesari’?

There was a time when Akshay Kumar was called the box office ‘Gyntid Hit Machine’. Every year, the films of this superstar, who gave 3-4 films, used to get opening only in his name, but now the situation seems to be changing. The recently released film ‘Kesari’, which was based on the Jallianwala Bagh scandal, failed to pull the audience to the theater. The film was praised by critics, but despite a big name like Akshay Kumar, the film flopped at the box office. If the film could not get the opening of the way, then what is the need in the film of a star like Akshay?

The performance of ‘Kesari’ indicates that now Akshay Kumar’s films are not being taken from the ‘seriousness’ among the audience. This trend has started long ago. Many of his previous films like ‘Ram Setu’, ‘Emperor Prithviraj’, ‘Raksha Bandhan’ ‘Selfie’, ‘Belbotam’, ‘Sarfira’, ‘Bade Mian Chhoti Mian’ kept on flopping one after the other. Projects like ‘Bachchan Pandey’ and ‘Atrangi Re’ also did not go as expected. Even after releasing on big festivals, these films did not live on the criterion of the audience.

At one time, entering 100 crore clubs was a minor matter for Akshay Kumar, but now that figure is also seen out of his reach. There can be many reasons behind this decline – script weakness, repetition of content and perhaps changing priorities of the audience. Also, overaxpose is also a major reason. When the same face is seen on screen four times a year, the audience can also be tired.

At the same time, Akshay made so many bad films that the audience lost his trust in him. Akshay of evil films became synonymous and the audience distanced from his films. Also, Akshay’s acting was also not good in films. He looked reluctant in many films. He played every character in the same way, whether Prithviraj or the elder Mian. These days the audience has become extremely demanding and he did not like such a careless attitude.

Now the question arises whether Akshay Kumar’s stardom is really ending? Has he lost his old association with the audience? Or is it a temporary phase, from which he will come out again?

He will definitely expect some future films like ‘Hera Pheri 3’ and ‘Welcome to the Jungle’, but if there is the same cold response from the audience, then it will be a big setback for Akshay’s career. At present, it is certain that Akshay Kumar now needs a strong story and script, not just Starpower, otherwise he will go behind in the box office race.
