This festival gives children a chance to welcome Bappa happily and participate in various activities. However, this time, in addition to Ganesh Chaturthi in some states, it has been decided to keep schools closed due to heavy rains.

The festival of Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated with great pomp, especially in Maharashtra, and for this reason many districts are vacant for the entire 10 days. Apart from this, schools like Goa, Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Gujarat have also been declared a holiday in schools on this day.

Schools closed in these states due to rain

Along with Ganesh Chaturthi, a decree of holiday has also been issued in schools due to heavy rains in many states of North India.

  1. Jammu and Kashmir: Schools are closed in many areas due to heavy rains.
  2. Rajasthan: Due to heavy rains, schools have been ordered to be closed in many districts.
  3. Himachal Pradesh: Schools in many districts will remain closed due to heavy rains and cloudburst incidents.
  4. Uttarakhand: Schools can be closed in many districts due to heavy rains warnings.
  5. Punjab: According to the Chief Minister’s order, schools will be closed from August 27 to August 30 due to heavy rains.

Due to the closure of school, children will get a chance to attend the celebration of Ganesh Chaturthi, where pandals are decorated in place and the idol of Lord Ganesha is installed in homes. Various dishes are made on this occasion and competitions like dance and singing are also held in many places.
