Alexander Raza accused the coach of racial discrimination, demanded strict punishment
Zimbabwe’s cricket star Sikander Raza is once again in the headlines but this time he has become a topic of discussion not due to his performance but due to a different reason. Raza has filed an official complaint with Harare Metropolitan Cricket Association (HMCA), alleging that his coach misbehaved with him during the Wigne Cup match on 1 June.
The incident occurred at the Old Hararines Sports Club, where Raza was representing Old Hararians against Rainbow Cricket Club. Talking to ESPN Cricinfo, Raza said, “If he is found guilty, an example should be made against him so that such an incident should never happen, with this generation and the next generation.”
HMCA has been contacted for feedback, but has not yet issued any public statement. According to the complaint, this misconduct was done by a team associated with a team and this happened when Raza was going out of the field after his innings. Raza has demanded a thorough investigation into the case. Despite the incident, Raza performed brilliantly in the match and scored 78 off 56 balls and helped Old Hararians score 402 for 9 wickets in 50 overs. Rainbow Cricket Club scored 225 for 8 wickets in 39 overs, which was less than 142 runs under DLS method.
Raza has been in excellent form in 2025. He recently played a key role in Lahore Kalandars’ Pakistan Super League (PSL) title win. At the international level, Raza Zimbabwe has been the foundation of Cricket, he has represented the national team in 19 Tests, 151 ODIs and 105 T20s. He has scored 1353, 4325 and 2403 runs in all three formats respectively, while 39, 93 and 81 wickets with the ball.
