Amarnath Yatra closed a week ago: both Baltal and Pahalgam due to heavy rains

The Amarnath Yatra has been stopped. The yatra was to run till August 9, but it was stopped on 3 August due to the failure of the road due to heavy rains.

Divisional Commissioner of Kashmir Vijay Kumar Bidhuri said that the travel routes have suffered a lot due to rain. Repair work will be done on both Baltal and Pahalgam routes, so the journey has to be stopped. He said that it is not possible to resume the journey due to the frequent deployment of machines and personnel on the paths.

The Amarnath Yatra started from July 3 and was to end on Rakshabandhan on 9 August. So far this year, 4.10 lakh devotees have visited the Amarnath cave, while over 5.10 lakh devotees had arrived last year.

The Amarnath Yatra started from 3 July. During this morning, the first aarti of Baba Amarnath was performed in the morning. This time the journey was only 1 month. Around 50,000 CRPF personnel were deployed during the visit.

On 5 July, four buses of the convoy carrying passengers collided. About 36 passengers were injured in an accident near Chanderkot Langar in Ramban district. The accident occurred when the driver of a bus lost control due to the brake failure. Three more buses involved in the convoy collided with each other. 5 lakh passengers arrived in 2024

The journey was 52 days in 2024. The journey went on for 62 days in 2023, 43 days in 2022 and 46 days in 2019. The journey was postponed in 2020-21 due to the Korona epidemic. More than 5.1 lakh devotees visited Baba Barfani in the holy cave in the Amarnath Yatra, which lasted 52 days in 2024.

In 2023, 4.5 lakh passengers attended. In 2012, a record 6.35 pilgrims visited. In 2022, the figure was reduced due to Kovid and 3 lakh pilgrims arrived for darshan.
