Past of Kashyap Patel 

According to the US Defense Department, Kashyap or ‘Kash’ Patel is of Indian origin and his family’s roots are linked to Gujarat. His father migrated to the United States from Uganda in the 1970s to escape poor conditions during the regime of dictator Idi Amin.

Kashyap Patel was born in 1980 in Garden City, New York. Patel is a follower of Hindu religion. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Richmond and returned to New York to earn a law degree. In addition, he also obtained a certificate in international law from the University of London. Kashyap Patel also got the opportunity to work as the chief officer of Acting Defense Secretary Christopher Miller in the Ministry of Defense.

He played a key role in eliminating key terrorist leaders of ISIS and al-Qaeda while serving as the Senior Director for Counterterrorism at the National Security Council and Assistant to the President. Patel led the House Select Committee’s investigation into Russian influence on the US presidential election in 2016.

There was controversy over appointing CIA Deputy Director during Trump’s last tenure

According to The Atlantic report, Kashyap Patel was inducted into the Trump administration in 2019 and consolidated his position in key positions in a very short time. Trump had planned to make Patel the deputy director of the CIA, but there was controversy at the end of the administration. Trump told Kashyap Patel at a gala, "Be ready, puff. Be prepared."
