Andhra Pradesh: Cancer screening will be done across the state, provision to test 4 crore people
Amravati, 07 November (HS). Andhra Pradesh Health Minister Satyakumar Yadav has revealed that almost 70 percent of people are affected by cancer due to various habits. Awareness about cancer is very important. The minister revealed that based on a survey, people of the state were found to be suffering from cervical, breast and oral cancer. The minister said that Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu will soon start cancer testing across the state and cancer testing will be done for about 4 crore people.
More than 18,000 health department staff and voluntary organization workers have been trained to conduct cancer tests. The minister said that awareness about cancer will be created by going door to door. He said that these awareness programs will be run across the state in collaboration with Homibaba Cancer Centre. The victims will be sent to 17 medical hospitals in the state. Celebrities and cancer experts have also been called upon to participate in cancer awareness. 125 experts have been appointed. He said that expert appointment was done through green channel.
On another question from the media, the Health Minister said that 10.5 lakh people were affected by diarrhea in the last few months due to the impact of cyclone and flood in the state. Miracle cannot happen in 4 months. Diarrhea is caused by contaminated water. Poor management of drainage is also the reason for this.
