Angelo Mathews announces retirement from Test cricket, will play the last match against this team
The Sri Lankan veteran all -rounder Angelo Mathews Test Retirement announced his retirement from Test cricket on Friday (May 23). The first Test match against Bangladesh in Galle from 17 June will be the last match of his career in this format.
On social media, Mathews gave information about his retirement and also said that if my country needs me, he will be available for selection in the limited over team. Let us know that Mathews has not played a single limited over match for almost a year.
Sri Lanka does not have to play any other match after two Test series against Bangladesh in the current year. Sri Lanka team does not have to play any other Test by May 2026.
Mathews also captained the Sri Lanka team in 34 Tests. In 2014, Sri Lanka, under his leadership, achieved a historical caste in Hadingley, in the second innings, Mathews overturned the match by scoring 160 runs.
Mathews is at number three among the players who have scored the highest runs for Sri Lanka in Test cricket, scoring 8167 runs in 118 Tests with their bat so far. In this format, Mathews has 16 centuries and 45 half -centuries and he has also taken 33 wickets in bowling.
