When Rajat Sharma asked if his father used to watch his films, Anupam Kher replied, ‘My father was my biggest fan, he also praised my worst films. People have a psychological feeling, people wonder why he is the father of such a famous actor, so why is he traveling in the train. Father did not blow proudly on Anupam Kher
Anupam Kher said, ‘My father used to have a box. No one was allowed to open that box. When my father died on February 10, 2012, we opened the box and saw that it had all our press cuttings, newspapers and all my press clipping, my cards, my trophies. He also used to underline the worst reviews about me. This was the love of my father for me. ‘ When asked about his father’s last days, Anupam Kher revealed, ‘My father had a strange illness. He went hungry. The food for them was like sand and water like acid. He became very weak. The doctors advised us to take them home. I reached Goa to attend David Dhawan’s son’s wedding, then my brother called me and asked me to come immediately. I immediately caught the flight, and when I reached home, I saw my father lying on the bed. They place the pen and paper on their chest. Was very weak. He could not speak.
He kept staring at me, and then started writing something. Started writing for about 10-15 minutes. When I saw the paper, there were only lines in it. He had no power to write words. I tried to calm them down by saying, ‘Papa, you are right’. He was a bit disappointed. They called me near, I put my ears near his mouth. The person who was about to die after 20 minutes was his last two words for me: ‘Live Life’ (Anupam Kher Aka started crying in the show). What less can a father give to his son? That is why I look every moment, every moment, live. My father was an ordinary person, he was a clerk in the forest department. My grandfather was an extraordinary person, he was a scholar and a yoga teacher.
