Islamabad: The market of rumors in Pakistan is hot that Army Chief Asim Munir may become the next President. Meanwhile, now Pakistan’s Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir has made a big statement breaking the silence in this matter. Munir has dismissed the speculation of any change under the leadership of the country and has described the rumors of the deployment of President Asif Ali Zardari as completely false. From July, the market of speculation in Pakistan was hot that President Zardari could be asked to step down and the army chief could hold the top post.

When did Munir say this?

Jung Media Group’s columnist Suhail Varaich has claimed that the army chief personally spoke to him on the matter during a recent meeting in Brussels. Munir stayed in Belgium for some time after returning from a trip to America last week. “The conversation started with politics, especially on the rumors that an attempt is being made to change both the President and the Prime Minister of Pakistan.”

What did Munir say?

In a conversation with Varaich, Field Marshal Munir clearly stated that reports of change are completely false. He said, “There are elements behind this (rumor), who oppose both the government and the army and want to create political chaos.” Munir also mentioned his ambitions at the Brussels’ gathering and said, “Allah has made me the protector of the country. I have no desire for any other position other than that.”

PM Sharif said this

Meanwhile, let me tell you here that recently, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif also rejected such rumors. PM Sharif had said that there is no fact that President Asif Ali Zardari can be forced to step down and Army Chief Field Marshall Aasim Munir will take over him. (Language)
