Asia cup 2025: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) may soon take a big decision on the Asia Cup 2025. After the dispute with Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), India is now seen taking a soft stand on this issue and a decision may be revealed soon.
The ongoing conflict between India and Pakistan over the Venue of the Asian Cricket Council meeting seems to be over. The BCCI initially opposed holding a meeting in Dhaka, but is now ready to attend this meeting.
BCCI will be present in ASIA Cup 2025 meeting
The meeting will be held on July 24 in Dhaka, led by Asian Cricket Council Chairman and Pakistan Cricket Board head Mohsin Naqvi. Initially, BCCI warned to boycott the meeting for political reasons. The board had clearly stated that if the venue is not changed, they will neither participate in the meeting nor recognize any decision.
The situation became more complicated when Sri Lanka Cricket and Afghanistan Cricket Board also supported BCCI and indicated to distance from the meeting. But now according to the latest update, representatives of the BCCI as well as the Sri Lankan Cricket Board and the Afghanistan Cricket Board can participate in the meeting.
Asia Cup 2025 at the decisive turn
The meeting is possible to hold a major decision on organizing the Asia Cup 2025. The window of September 10 to 28 has been set for the tournament organizing, and its final schedule may be approved in this meeting. Investment of crores of rupees and revenue for the Asia Cup is at stake, so all the members boards want to build a consensus on it.
Will the tournament move towards the hybrid model again?
Although BCCI’s virtual presence in the meeting is a positive signal, the picture is still not clear about the venue of the tournament. If India refuses to go to Pakistan and play, then like last time the hybrid model can come up once again.
