Sri Lanka captain Chamari Athapaththu has received a penalty of 10 percent match fees and a demerit point for anger to break their sunglasses in anger in the female triangle match played against South Africa.

Sri Lankan captain Chamari Attapattu could not control her anger and broke the sunglasses in the women’s Tri-Series match against South Africa. For this incident, the ICC got a fine of 10 percent match fee and a demerit point.

The incident took place in the 32nd over of the match, when Attapattu angrily threw his sunglasses on the ground after a foursome killed by South African batsman Aneri Durkasen, and they broke up. The ICC received Attapattu’s statement in this case, in which he obeyed his mistake and accepted the punishment.

This was the first time Attapattu violated a rule, and he admitted that the mistake was made in emotions. The ICC classified this violation under Level 1, which provides for a maximum of 50 percent match fee and one or two demerit points.

This was the first violation of Attapattu, and he was given only one demerit point. The incident was recorded by the match umpires, and the decision was taken after investigating the case.

Although South Africa won the match by 76 runs, Sri Lanka had already made it to the finals. In the final, India defeated Sri Lanka by 97 runs and won the title, in which India scored 342/7 with Smriti Mandhana’s 116 -run innings.
