Ball Templing from Chemical Towels? Ravichandran Ashwin’s team accused of tampering with ball
A shocking controversy has emerged in the TNPL 2025, where Ravichandran Ashwin’s team Dindigul Dragons has been accused of ball tampering. Madurai Panthers have claimed that the opposition team tried to change the condition of the ball using chemical -lashed towels. However, TNPL has accepted the complaint and now evidence has been sought. If the allegations are found to be correct, then major action can be taken.
A shocking case has come to light in the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL 2025). Madurai Panthers have severely accused Ravichandran Ashwin’s team Dindigul Dragons of ball tempering. According to the panthers, the players of Dindigul tried to change the condition of the ball with a chemical towel.
Madurai franchise’s CEO D. Poonam has sent a written complaint to TNPL and claimed that despite this action, the Dindigul team did not stop using towels even after repeated warnings. He also says that when hitting the ball bat, there was a sound like metal (metallic), indicating that some disturbances were made in it.
Meanwhile, TNPL’s CEO Prasanna Kannan spoke to The Indian Express that he has accepted the complaint, although there was a rule to complain within 24 hours. He has clearly stated that if the complaint is proved correct, then an independent committee will be formed, but if no strong evidence is found, then the Madurai team will also be processed.
Prasanna Kannan also clarified that due to rain, TNCA provides towels to all teams to dry the wet ball, but it can only be used in the presence of umpires. He said that during the match, the umpires had examined the ball and they did not find anything suspicious.
Significantly, the match started late due to rain, in which Madurai scored 150/8 runs while batting first. In response, Dindigul Dragons achieved the target in 12.3 overs. Ashwin did not take any wicket with the ball in this match, but won the team by playing a brilliant innings of 49 runs.
