Ban on sale of egg-mutton on Ganesh Utsav, High Court issued notice to CS, CMO and asked under which rule the notification was issued

Palpal correspondent, Jabalpur/Sagar. MP High Court, while hearing a PIL, has asked the state government under which rule the sale of egg-mutton was banned in Bina. The High Court has issued notice to the Chief Secretary, Sagar Collector and CMO on the matter and sought their reply. The next hearing on this matter will now be held on October 22.

Sale of eggs and meat was banned during Ganesh Utsav in Sagar of Bina district of Madhya Pradesh. Due to which a businessman Virendra Ajmani filed a petition in the High Court. While hearing this, the Division Bench of the High Court has issued notice to the State Chief Secretary, Sagar Collector and Chief Municipal Officer and sought their reply. The High Court has asked the officials under which rule the sale of egg and mutton was banned in Bina during Ganesh Utsav. The bench of Chief Justice Suresh Kumar Kait and Justice Vivek Jain heard the case.

It is noteworthy that the Chief Municipal Officer of Bina issued a notification on 7 September. It was said in the notification that eggs and mutton will not be sold during Ganesh Utsav. Along with this, it was also said that action will be taken against whoever violates this rule. After this order of Bina CMO, the egg and meat shop was closed.

Angered by the notification, Virendra Ajmani filed a PIL and said that it is not written in the Municipal Corporation’s notification under which rule this ban is being imposed. It was also said in the petition that issuing such an order and saying that action will be taken if it is not followed. This is a violation of fundamental rights. On hearing, the High Court has issued notice to the concerned departments and sought reply within a week.
