BAN vs Zim: Blessing shocks 9 wickets, Zimbabwe made the lead in the series by defeating Bangladesh in the first Test
Bangladesh vs Zimbabwe 1st Test Match Report: Zimbabwe defeated Bangladesh by 3 wickets in the first Test match played at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium. With this, Zimbabwe has taken a 1-0 lead in the two-match series. Fast bowler Blessing Mujarbani played an important role in Zimbabwe’s victory, who took 9 wickets in his account, including both innings.
Chasing a target of 174 runs, Zimbabwe’s team won at the loss of 7 wickets in 50.1 overs. Zimbabwe started well and Brian Bennett along with Ben Curren added 95 runs for the first wicket, but after that there was no major partnership. Bennett scored 54 runs in 81 balls and Curren scored 44 runs in 74 balls.
In the second innings for Bangladesh, Mehdi Hasan Miraj took 5 wickets while bowling brilliantly. Apart from this, Taijul Islam also took 2 wickets.
Before lunch on the fourth day, Bangladesh’s team was all out for 255 runs in the second innings. In which captain Najmul Hussain Shanto scored 69 runs, Jaaker Ali scored 48 runs and Mominul Haq scored 47 runs.
For Zimbabwe, Blessing Mujarbani took 6 wickets while bowling well. Apart from this, Wellington Masakadja took 2 wickets, Richard Nagarwa and Victor Nyouchi took 1-1 wickets.
Significantly, winning the toss and batting first, scored 191 runs in the first innings. In which Mominul Haq scored 56 runs and Shanto scored 40 runs.
In response, Zimbabwe’s team scored 273 runs and took a significant lead of 82 runs in the first innings. In which opening batsman Brian Bennett scored 57 runs and Scene Williams played a brilliant innings of 59 runs.
The second and last Test match of the series will be played in Chittagong from 28 April.
