The players of Bengaluru FC and Inter Kashi kept a minute’s silence to mourn the victims of the terrorist attack in Pahalgam before their Super Cup match in Bhubaneswar on 23 April and played a black band on the arm. On Tuesday, terrorists killed at least 26 people in Basaron, Pahalgam, mostly tourists. The banned Lashkar-e-Taiba (LET) terrorist group ‘The Resistance Front’ (TRF) has claimed responsibility for the attack. This attack has been strongly condemned worldwide. The domestic and foreign players of both the teams landed in the field by tying a black band to pay tribute to the victims of the terrorist attack. Just before the match started, the players, match officials and the audience present at the Kalinga Stadium kept a minute’s silence in memory of the departed souls. Earlier, Bengaluru FC expressed solidarity with the victims and the injured of the terrorist attack.

Sunil Chhetri expressed grief

ISL 2018-19 Champion Club Bangalore FC said on ‘X’ that Bangalore FC stands with FC victims, their families and all those affected in the Pahalgam attack. He said that one minute silence would be kept before today’s Kalinga Super Cup match where the team players would tie a black band on the arm as an honor. “Bengaluru FC and India captain Sunil Chhetri condemned the ‘cowardice’ act of terrorists. Chhetri said that I am saddened by the news coming from Pahalgam. Words are falling short. My condolences are with all the families affected by this cowardly terrorist attack.

Inter Kashi told the attack on the soul of the country

Inter Kashi described the terrorist attack as a ‘wound on the soul of the country’. Inter Kashi said that he says that the show should be kept going. And goes on. But not without remembering. Not without anger. Pahalgam is soaked in blood and we too. What happened is not just the title of a news – it is a wound on the soul of this country. He said that terrorism should not only be condemned but should be faced and should be defeated. We are united – in sorrow, angry and in resolve.
