Bangladeshis kidnapped for ransom in Nepal, 5 Indians arrested

Kathmandu: The Nepal Police on Wednesday busted an alleged kidnapping gang and arrested 5 Indian citizens. According to the police, the accused were involved in the case of Bangladeshi tourists hostage for ransom in Nepal. According to Kathmandu Metropolitan Police spokesperson and Senior Superintendent of Police Epil Bohra, the accused arrested have been identified as Siva Saurabh (34), resident of Delhi, Ramesh Jadhav (64), resident of Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, Deepak Kumar (32), Sandeep Kumar (36) and Jaspreet Singh (38), resident of Punjab.
What did the police tell
Bohra told ‘PTI-language’ that the gang had abducted seven Bangladeshi citizens going to Nepal by luring cheap travel package. Police said Bangladeshi citizens were held hostage in a rented house in Lalitpur metropolis of Kathmandu Valley. Bangladeshi citizens held hostage were also given mental and physical torture.
Judicial Accused sent to custody
According to the police, each Bangladeshi person snatched US $ 2,000-3,500 and their mobile phones and forced them to ask for a ransom of millions of dollars through WhatsApp. Bangladeshi citizens were allegedly beaten and threatened to kill him. Police arrested Indian citizens from various areas of Kathmandu on the basis of secret information. Kathmandu District Court has sent all the accused to judicial custody for six days. (Language)
