BCCI raised questions on the organizers on a stampede in RCB celebration, said – there was a mess in planning
After winning the IPL 2025, there was a terrible stampede outside the Chinnaswamy Stadium in a festive event organized for the RCB team in Bengaluru. At least 11 people died and dozens were injured in this accident. BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia has questioned the organizers, calling it a ‘bitter truth of popularity’
The celebration of RCB’s historic victory at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Wednesday turned into mourning. Thousands of fans gathered in the joy of winning the trophy after waiting for 18 years, causing at least 11 people in the stampede and injured more than 25.
Talking to PTI, BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia said about this incident, “This is a negative aspect of popularity. The organizers should have done better planning. My condolences are with the families of the dead and I wish the injured to recover soon.”
Saikia while talking further said that for such a big event, concrete system of security and crowd control is necessary. Giving examples, he said that there was no such incident during the KKR victory in Kolkata last year or during the T20 World Cup celebration in Mumbai as the police and administration worked together.
BCCI Vice President Rajiv Shukla also reacted to the incident. He told ANI, “The government had already canceled the road show so that there is no such untoward, but there was no possibility of such a stampede outside the stadium. Now everyone will have to work on damage control.”
The RCB team reached Hal Airport on Wednesday, where he was received by Deputy CM DK Shivkumar. After this, the team reached Vidhan Sudha to meet CM Siddaramaiah. Meanwhile, thousands of fans gathered outside the Chinnaswamy Stadium. In the desire to get a glimpse of Virat Kohli, the fans became uncontrollable and an accident happened. Many videos have surfaced on social media, in which the police are seen taking the injured to the hospital. It is being told that 6 people are still in critical condition.
