Bengaluru concert controversy: Sonu Nigam knocked on the door of High Court, pleading to cancel FIR
Bollywood’s famous playback singer Sonu Nigam has been in controversy in the past few days. On 25 April, Sonu Nigam reprimanded a fan during the Bengaluru concert and said that ‘this is the reason, what happened in Pahalgam … that’s what you are doing, what you have just done. Look, who is standing in front.
Actually, Fan was making noise to sing from Sonu Nigam repeatedly in Kannada. But Sonu Nigam got caught in trouble by referring to the Pahalgam attack. After this, a Pro-Kannada Organization lodged a police complaint against Sonu Nigam.
At the same time, Sonu Nigam has demanded the cancellation of the FIR lodged against them by knocking on the Karnataka High Court. The holiday bench of Justice Shivshankar Amarnavar heard the case on Tuesday and postponed it for further hearing.
On the basis of the complaint lodged by the pro -Kannada organization Karnataka Rakshan Vedike, a complaint was lodged at Avallly police station. The complainant alleged that Sonu Nigam described the demand for singing Kannada songs on behalf of the audience as equal to the Pahalgam terror attack, depicting the Kannada people as intolerant and violent.
A case has been registered against Sonu Nigam under Section 351 (2) (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Code (BNS), Section 352 (1) (deliberately insulting with the intention of disturbing peace), and section 353 (statement of public misleading statement).
