Bengaluru stampede case: Court sent 4 including RCB officer to 14 days judicial custody

Bengaluru: Capital of Karnataka A Bengaluru court on Friday sent three people of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and an event management company DNA Entertainment to 14 days judicial custody. The action was taken on Tuesday, 4 June 2025 in a stampede case outside the Chinnaswamy Stadium, killing 11 people and injured several people. The court sent RCB’s marketing and revenue head Nikhil Sosh, Sunil Matthew, Sumant, and Kiran Kumar of DNA Entertainment to custody. These four were arrested in joint action of Bangalore Police and Crime Branch on Friday morning.

Nikhil Sose caught in trying to go to Dubai

Nikhil Sosh was caught from Bangalore Airport when he was preparing to go to Dubai. Nikhil filed a petition in the Karnataka High Court against his arrest, but Justice S.K. R. Krishna Kumar refused to give him immediate relief and postponed the hearing of the case till 9 June. The police have registered an FIR against RCB, DNA Entertainment and Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) for criminal negligence and non-hilt. Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has ordered strict action in the matter and a judicial commission has been formed to investigate.

What happened in a stampede? What action did the government take?

The heart -wrenching accident occurred on 4 June 2025 when millions of fans gathered outside the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru to celebrate RCB’s IPL 2025 victory. A huge crowd gathered around the stadium, which could not be controlled. In this accident, 11 people lost their lives and many people were injured. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Thursday in connection with the stampede incident, Bangalore Police Commissioner B.K. Dayanand and 4 other senior police officers were suspended. Siddaramaiah had admitted to intelligence failure in connection with the stampede incident. This is the reason that ADGP (Intelligence) Hemant Nimbalkar has also been transferred. (PTI)
