A round of action has started in Bengaluru on Wednesday after a stampede and 11 people died. The police have registered a case against RCB franchise, Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) and DNA Entertainment Private Limited and have started arrest of their representatives. However, KSCA has approached the Karnataka High Court from where it has got a big relief against the action of this arrest. KSCA had filed a petition to stop the arrest action, after hearing that the High Court has stayed the arrest and has given a week’s time for investigation.

What questions did the court ask?

Hearing the petition, the High Court asked how much FIR has been done in this case so far. On this, State Government Advocate General Kiran Shetty informed the court that an investigation was CID. He also told the court that a magisterial investigation is also going on in this case and retired judge Michael Kunha has also been appointed for investigation. On this, the court has made it clear that there is no possibility of a magisterial investigation in this case and arrest in the investigation of Michael Kunha. Arrest can be made in the investigation being conducted by CID.

FIR illegal, should not take action for a week- Ksca

In the petition filed by the Karnataka State Cricket Association, the petitioners have described the FIR and legal action in the court as illegal and arbitrary. The petitioners demanded a ban on action against them for a week. He has said that he is ready to help in the investigation. The petitioners have argued that arrest of them will affect their constitutional rights. At the same time, the Advocate General has appealed to the court that 11 people have died and many people have also been injured. Therefore, the investigation should be allowed to move forward without any hindrance.

What order did the court order?

The Karnataka High Court has directed after hearing the case that no tough action should be taken against the petitioners for a week. However, the court has also imposed a condition that they will have to cooperate in the investigation and inquiry. The court has fixed June 16 for further hearing on the matter.
