Kush Housewife Amavasya: On this day, Kush grass is collected for all religious works and rituals performed throughout the year. Kush grass is considered very sacred and its use is mandatory in worship. Since Kush is ‘eclipse’ or gathered on this day, it is called Kush Grihawari Amavasya.

Pithori Amavasya: This Amavasya is laid by women, especially mothers, for the long life and prosperity of the child. On this day, mothers worship 64 Yoginis including Goddess Durga by making round laddus of flour. 10 Surefire remedies on Bhadrapada Amavasya: Taking some special measures on this auspicious day brings happiness, peace and prosperity in life:

1. Shraddha and Tarpan of ancestors: On this day, the ancestors give peace to their soul by offering and pindadan.

2. Worship of Peepal: Peepal tree is considered to be the abode of the gods. Worship the Peepal tree on this day and offer water.

3. Light the lamp: In the evening, light a lamp under the Peepal tree and at the main gate of the house for the ancestors.

4. Ganga Bath: If possible, take a bath in a holy river, especially the Ganges.

5. Dan and charity: After bathing, donate grains, clothes and food to the needy.
