Big action by India, called back its ambassador from Canada, said- no assurance of his safety there
New Delhi. The tension that has been going on between India and Canada for the last several years has once again intensified. After continuous provocation from Canada, India has now adopted a tough stance. On Monday, India summoned Canadian diplomat Stewart Wheeler to New Delhi and lodged a strong protest over the recent move by the Trudeau government and decided to recall its High Commissioner Sanjay Kumar Verma and other diplomats.
The Foreign Ministry said, we do not trust the Canadian government to provide security to High Commissioner Verma. India completely rejects these absurd allegations. In a diplomatic communication shared with India, Canada has accused Indian High Commissioner Sanjay Kumar Verma and other Indian diplomats present there of being involved in the murder of Hardeep Singh Nijjar in June 2023. Expressing strong displeasure over Canada’s stance, the Foreign Ministry said that the baseless targeting of the Indian High Commission and other diplomats is unacceptable. The ministry said in its statement, yesterday in the communication received from Canada, it was told that the names of the Indian High Commissioner and other diplomats have come up in the ongoing investigation there into the Nijjar murder case. The Government of India vehemently denies these absurd allegations. The Trudeau government is doing this to create vote bank.
The Ministry of External Affairs has further said in its statement that we have no confidence in the commitment of the present government to ensure the safety of Indian diplomats in Canada. That’s why we are calling back our diplomats and officials. Earlier, the Foreign Ministry had summoned the Canadian High Commissioner in New Delhi. The Canadian High Commissioner was told by the Ministry of External Affairs that the baseless targeting of the Indian High Commissioner and other diplomats and officials in Canada is completely unacceptable. India has expressed its concern over the summoning of the Indian High Commissioner and other diplomats by Canada in connection with the investigation of any matter. Has also strongly condemned and said that this conspiracy has been hatched for the vote bank politics of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. The Ministry of External Affairs said India received a diplomatic message from Canada yesterday, stating that the Indian High Commissioner and other diplomats are monitoring the ongoing investigation in connection with a case in that country.
