New Delhi: The big news of this time has come out by quoting sources about caste census. The date of caste census has been ascertained. Caste census can begin from 1 March 2027.

How many stages will be there?

According to sources, caste census will be conducted in 2 stages. Caste census will begin in the first 4 states. In the first phase, caste census will be held in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh. It will start from October 1, 2026.

In the second phase, caste census will begin in all other states and union territories. It will start from March 1, 2027. That is, caste census will start from March 2027 in the plains and caste census will start from 1 October 2026 in the hilly states.

Census 2021 was also proposed to be held in two phases, the first phase was to be held during April-September 2020 and the second phase was to be held in February 2021. All preparations for the first phase of the census to be held in 2021 were completed and regional work was about to begin in some states/union territories from April 1, 2020. However, the census work had to be postponed due to the outbreak of Covid-19 epidemic across the country.

The government had recently decided that it would conduct caste census. In fact, regular caste calculations from 1881 to 1931 were stopped in the first census of 1951. In 2011, caste figures were collected under the Socio-Economic and Caste Census (SECC) but this data was not fully used.
