The next census will be held in 2035.

  2. The census process in hilly states like Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh and Uttarakhand will be completed by other states by October 2026. The reason for this is the weather and cold, October 1, 2026 for these states will be considered as a reference date.
  3. The entire process of census will end by 1 March 2027, that is, the entire process will be completed in about 21 months.
  4. After this, the primary data of the census will be released in March 2027, while the release of detail data will take till December 2027.
  5. After this, a series of Lok Sabha and Assembly seats will start by 2028, during which 33 percent reservation for women can also be implemented. That is, the picture of reservation for women before the 2029 Lok Sabha elections can be clear.
