Bengaluru: A 10 -year -old child was killed and 12 others injured in a tragic cylinder blast on Friday at Chinnayana Pallaya, Wilson Garden in Central Bangalore, police confirmed this. The explosion occurred in a densely populated residential area, where the houses are adjacent to each other. Adugodi police said that the injured were immediately rushed to close hospitals for treatment.

8 to 10 houses collapsed

According to the fire brigade, 8 to 10 houses collapsed due to the explosion. The roofs and walls of many buildings suffered heavy damage. How fast the blast was can be gauged from the fact that the shocks of the explosion fall on more than ten buildings in the surrounding area.

The fire brigade received emergency information at 8:23 am, after which two fire engines were sent in a few minutes. Rescue and relief work was immediately started. Firefighting and emergency services, local police and NDRF started the removal and search work.

Two of the injured are in critical condition

The injured also include women and children, of which two are stated to be critical. Preliminary investigation by firefighters shows that the explosion was caused by the cylinder leaks, although other possible causes are still being investigated. A senior fire department official said, “Initial investigations have revealed that the cylinder exploded, but further investigation is on to confirm the exact cause.”

Inspection of nearby buildings

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Sarah Fatima and senior officials visited the spot to inspect rescue operations and coordinate the ongoing campaigns. The area has been sieged for security and nearby buildings are being inspected to prevent further incidents.

The explosion has created deep concern among the residents and questioned the security protocol in crowded urban areas. Officials have assured that all necessary measures are being taken to help the affected families and to prevent such tragedies in the future.
