The Indian batting line up collapsed in Bengaluru against New Zealand. Three Kiwi bowlers took all ten wickets, as Team India scored only 46 runs on board. Mat Henry alone took 5 wickets. Five Indian batsmen out for duck. Naturally, questions are on social media: why did India bat so poor?

Some cricket fans are questioning captain Rohit Sharma’s decision to bat first. It was not an easy condition to bat on the track of M. Chinnaswamy Stadium because of overcast weather. Wicket has something to offer for the pace bowlers; there are chances of rain and a cloudy weather from the morning. So, why did Rohit choose to bat first?

Five batters from Team India got out without scoring a run. India lost three wickets and had only 10 runs in hand. Rohit himself scored only couple of runs. Rishabh Pant today was the highest run getter for team India with 20 runs. Virat batted in the number three position and returned to the pavilion with a duck. Along with VK, Sarfaraz Khan, KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja, and R Ashwin returned to the dressing room with an empty hand. Shubhman Gill is not participating in the match due to a fitness issue; Sarfaraz Khan replaces him. Like the team, Virat has a poor record with his name. Team India’s first inning comes to an end with only 46/10 on the scoreboard.

New Zealand bowlers took advantage of cloudy weather. Veteran Tim Southee took only one wicket with a 1.33 economy rate. Henry grabbed five wickets; he bowled 13.2 overs, which is a 1.13 economy rate. 23-year-old Will O’Rourke got four wickets with his name.
